Spring is in the air and so is the buzz about
Passover Seder meals. Yes, It’s that time of
year again!
For over 40 years, Jewish Family and Children’s
Service (JFCS) volunteers have been delivering
Passover Baskets to the homes of our Jewish
clients who could not otherwise have a
traditional Passover meal. Last year, during the
JFCS Matza & More project, volunteers delivered
nearly 185 Passover Baskets to the 144 families
in need throughout our community.
As the economy slowly recovers this year, many
families continue to face financial crisis. JFCS
will again try to reach as many families in need
with our Passover Baskets and we need volunteers
to assemble and deliver Passover baskets.
There are opportunities for individuals,
families, children, young adults, seniors,
schools and clubs to become involved with Matza
& More by donating food, funds or time. We will
need help picking up food from collection
points, assembling baskets and making friendly
visits while delivering baskets. All this
activity will happen on Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday March 24th, 25th and 26th and if
necessary on Sunday the 28th.
You can be an important part of this Mitzvah.
Bring your children to help with either the
packing or delivering of the JFCS baskets of
Matza & More to a family in need to be able to
celebrate Passover with all the essentials for
Seder. To sign up to be a part of the JFCS Matza
& More project, please call or email Jennifer

This year, with the help of Asher Amar of the
5th Street Deli, we will be expanding the
contents of the Passover Basket to include a
‘Chicken in Every Pot’. Other items included for
the Seder will be; matza meal, Gold sauce (or
gravy), matza, grape juice, macaroons, gefilte
fish, horseradish and walnuts. Through the
continued generosity of Shamrock Foods, we are
again able to provide the produce necessary such
as: potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, parsley
and apples. There will be candles, a Haggadah
and a handmade ‘Happy Pesach’ card (from the
children of our community)
Another new addition to the baskets this year
will be a Pesach Cookbook. We ask that each
congregation submit 5 recipe’s for the item
being collected by their congregants. We will
need these recipes submitted by March 19th.
