The programs at Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Southern Arizona offer a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals or groups who seek to be of service to the community. We can tailor opportunities to meet your skills, interests and availability.

  • Friendly Visitor - Provide support and enrich the lives of seniors, and/or Holocaust Survivors in the community through social contact and companionship. You can meet at the person's home, in an assisted living facility, or at a public location.
  • Transportation Companion - Many individuals in our community do not have transportation to get to doctor appointments or even to shop for groceries. You can help by offering rides, bringing these individuals out of isolation and empowering them by giving them an opportunity to accomplish basic life tasks.
  • Medical Equipment maintenance - Many individuals in our community do not have transportation to get to doctor appointments or even to shop for groceries. You can help by offering rides, bringing these individuals out of isolation and empowering them by giving them an opportunity to accomplish basic life tasks.
  • Tucson Loan Chest Administrative assistance - Many individuals in our community do not have transportation to get to doctor appointments or even to shop for groceries. You can help by offering rides, bringing these individuals out of isolation and empowering them by giving them an opportunity to accomplish basic life tasks.
  • Outreach / Marketing - JFCS is invited to numerous community and Agency fairs in and around Tucson throught the affiliations we have in the Social & Behavioral Health services community. We need volunteers with a passion for the agency and an understanding of our programs to attend and staff our tables at these fairs. volunteering for this assignment would require training on the agency and a true passion to speak to the public about JFCS.
  • Holiday food Drive Assistance - Help families and individuals in need by assisting in the preparation and distribution of food boxes periodically through out the year during one of our Holiday Food drives. This critical assistance can help people in the community transition through a difficult time in their lives.
  • Group Facilitators- Numerous groups are run by our clinical staff. We need facilitators for these groups. Mental Health experience and education is required.
  • Meeting Greeters – you could help JFCS with checking in guests and attendees at the various Board, Community and Clinical meetings held at our offices. This usually takes just an hour of your time, just before a meeting is scheduled to begin.
  • Intake Assistance - JFCS receives many inquiries and requests for emergency financial assistance as well as calls from first time counseling clients. We need help in this department to process and follow up on every inquiry.
  • Clerical Assistance - JFCS has a very lean administrative staff. Our caseworkers and clinicians have a great need for a wide variety of administrative tasks to assist them in better serving our clients and ensuring proper documentation on all case files. Please let us know where your talents lie and we can match you to a departmental need. Hours are M – F, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Facilities Projects - A variety of tasks are available to suit your talents and interests. You could help JFCS better serve our clients by enhancing our environment with Landscaping, Gardening, Painting, Remodeling, Cleaning, Repairing projects at our main and satellite locations.
  • Special Projects/Talents - Do you have a passion to share or an idea for how you might help the community? Discuss your ideas with us. We can work together to make your vision a reality!
  • Retail Sales assistance at 1st Rate, 2nd Hand Thrift - You can assist JFCS clients in need to receive clothing and other household items from the the thrift store on Speedway and Woodland avenue. When you donate items at the 1st Rate, 2nd Hand Thrift Store the funds that are generated go to serving a wide range of local needs, from childhood education to senior housing, from behavioral health to supplemental food programs. When you volunteer your time at the 1st Rate, 2nd Hand Thrift Store, in the name of JFCS, based on a percentage of volunteer hours worked, proceeds from the store are distributed to JFCS to be used to fund community priorities. JFCS uses a portion of this distribution to purchase vouchers for families in need to obtain much needed clothing and household items.
  • Assurance Caller - You can help assure an elderly or shut in client with a simple phone call. JFCS needs volunteers to phone clients on a weekly basis, just to check in with them and help them feel overcome isolation and check on their welfare and safety.
  • Special Projects Utilizing YOUR Talents - Do you have a passion to share or an idea for how you might help the community? Discuss your ideas with us. We can work together to make your vision a reality!
